Being a survey volunteer - the benefits As a volunteer on a community biodiversity survey you have the opportunity to:
Insect trapping - Wheeler Creek 2001
Last May NPA organised its 20th major survey in just over 10 years! In partnership with the NPA Lachlan Valley Branch, the survey was located in the Lachlan Valley region just outside of Parkes. This survey was unique because it was the first time we have surveyed private land. Also looking at nearby Cookamidgera State Forest, we were able to demonstrate the importance of well-managed private land for establishing effective conservation corridors.
Invertebrate
Identification
"It is amazing how much can happen in just three and a bit days. It would take a short book to relate all the goings on at Woomargama. We saw frogs, bats, orchids, phantom wattles, antechinus, possums, wombats, owls and the endangered swift parrot". - Brian Hawkins past survey volunteer
"One of the best ways to instil a connection with the environment within people is to provide opportunities for everyone to experience it first hand". - Claire Carlton coordinator of several NPA surveys.
